ABC’s leading lady, Shonda Rhimes has reportedly inked a new deal with her home network that will keep ShondaLand productions on our television screens until 2018.
The four-year extension, valued at eight figures, will keep Rhimes’ two hit shows, Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy, on the network’s Thursday night lineup and add her new show How to Get Away With Murder, starring Viola Davis to ABC’s fall schedule.
But don’t think a new network deal is enough to keep Rhimes occupied for four years. The television genius is taking her talents back to her big screen roots and writing a screenplay for Sony’s Columbia Pictures drama titled War Correspondents, which will center around female journalists.
With ABC making Thursdays “Shonda night” and a big screen production under her belt, it seems like 2014 is shaping up to be the year of ShondaLand.
