ABFF Ambassador Taraji Henson Wins Critic’s Choice


Nineteenth annual American Black Film Festival ambassador, Taraji Henson, was recently awarded the much deserved Critic’s Choice TV Award for actress in a drama for her role as Cookie in Fox’s breakout hit, Empire. Taraji is the first African-American actress to receive this award.

As a lead in Empire, Taraji plays Cookie, a fiery, no nonsense, by any means necessary business women with a relentless drive for success. She embodies this role with strength, confidence, grace, believability and all things award winning.

As ABFF ambassador, Taraji will join fellow artists, creators and industry innovators as we celebrate black artistry. “I have a great deal of admiration and respect for Taraji. She is one of the industry’s finest actors and has a true sense of community; allowing others to stand in her light. We are extremely pleased to have her as our 2015 Ambassador,” says ABFF Founder Jeff Friday.

Taraji will serve as ABFF ambassador in New York City June 11-14 at New York City’s Hilton. The festival includes master classes, film screenings, panels, talent competitions and other events that will take place at the Hilton, the AMC Empire 25 and the Ziegfield Theater.
