UBR Morning Post: Les Brown on Developing a Winning Mindset for 2011

This week on The Urban Business Roundtable, the first show of the New Year, Executive Producer TaQuoya Kennedy speaks with world renowned motivational speaker and speech coach Les Brown. Brown’s career as a motivational author and speaker spans more than three decades, and includes self-help classics like Live Your Dreams and It’s Not Over Until You Win.

Brown rose from being a hip-talking morning DJ to become a three-term state legislator in Ohio, before becoming a legendary keynote speaker. The former host of The Les Brown Show, a nationally syndicated daily television talk show, Brown has coached and trained numerous successful young speakers, including professionals, corporate executives and entrepreneurs from all over the nation. Brown joins the roundtable to talk with Kennedy about how business owners can develop a winning mindset for 2011.

Also on this week’s edition of The Urban Business Roundtable, our UBR contributor Renita Young engages ground-breaking business leader Ulice Payne. After he failed to realize his hoop dreams as a 1978 No. 1 draft pick of the NBA’s Detroit Pistons, Payne achieved success as a global entrepreneur and business leader, including making history as the first Black CEO of a Major League Baseball team. The founder of Addison-Clifton LLC, a global-trade compliance advisory firm with offices in Brookfield, Wisconsin; Chicago, Illinois; and Shanghai, China, shares his journey from erstwhile professional athlete to top business achiever.

And finally, I share wisdom for the New Year from none other than Black Enterprise Founder and Chairman Earl Graves Sr., who explains why entrepreneurs need to maintain an attitude of optimism and determination.
