As one of the top- performing athletes of our time, LeBron James is aware that his platform provides him a unique opportunity to inspire millions of people.
Recently the superstar NBA player announced that he and his business partner Maverick Carter will executive produce a new Disney XD special called Becoming
that will profile the inspirational journeys of some of today’s most popular athletes. The half-hour show will air on Sunday, Oct. 26, and is in development to become a series. The first episode, filmed in James’s hometown of Akron, Ohio, will spotlight James’s journey from a kid shooting hoops in Akron to a now four-time MVP player in the NBA.
“I’m really excited about helping develop Becoming and bringing this kind of program to kids,” James said in a statement. “Sports and athletes were my
inspiration growing up. It was the stories about Michael Jordan, Deion Sanders, and Allen Iverson that kept me dreaming. When I learned that they had some of the same struggles and challenges I did, it made everything seem possible. That’s what Becoming is all about.”The
series, which is also produced in association with ESPN films and James’s Springhill Production Co., is another project added to James’s television resume, as the superstar also has a sitcom called Survivor’s Remorse airing on Starz.SOURCE: The Hollywood Reporter
