Kevin Durant Puzzled Why He’s Not In NBA’s Greatest Of All-Time Discussion

Durant feels that just because he joined the Golden State Warriors that it clouds people's opinion when it comes to having that G.O.A.T. conversation.

There have been countless conversations and will be future discussions regarding who is considered the G.O.A.T. of pro basketball. Names that are and should be included in that debate include Micheal Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Bill Russell, to name a few. But current NBA superstar Kevin Durant says his name is never brought up, at least not publicly.

“Why shouldn’t I be in that?” Durant posed to AZ Central.

It is a legitimate question when you compare numbers, titles, impact, and every little stat in between. Durant feels his joining the Golden State Warriors and getting his rings on a team that already won a championship has colored people’s opinions in the G.O.A.T. conversation.

“Because I went to the Warriors,” Durant said. “Why shouldn’t I be in that? That’s the question you should ask. Why not? What haven’t I done?”

Sports Illustrated looked at what he has accomplished in the NBA thus far.

Durant has won two NBA championships and two NBA Finals MVPs. He was an NBA MVP who has played in 13 NBA All-Star Game and has won two All-Star MVPs.

He is also a six-time All-NBA First Team member. Don’t forget that Durant won the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2007 and is a four-time scoring champion. For his career, he has scored nearly 28,000 points on 50 percent shooting.

These stats that shouldn’t be overlooked, particularly since he is still playing at a high level.

At the age of 35, he is currently averaging 29.6 points and 6.3 rebounds while dishing out 5.6 assists for the Phoenix Suns.

If, over the next several years, he adds to his staggering totals, he could make a great argument for being included in the G.O.A.T. debates.
