With Scandal back on the air setting records for Shonda Rhimes, it seems that Kerry Washington is back in the working saddle after becoming a mother.
According to Vanity Fair, MGM has acquired Is He The One, a romantic comedy which will star the Emmy-nominated performer. Pegged as a vehicle for Washington, she and the studio are negotiating the terms of the deal now. The film will be directed by Malcolm D. Lee who is fresh off the successful reception of The Best Man Holiday. The script was written by D.J. Richardson and Michelle Morgan (Girl Most Likely).
The rom-com starts off with a woman (presumedly Washington) preparing for her wedding day, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. The story is told in flashbacks that cycle through the three major relationships of the woman’s life. This leaves the big question of who will be the lucky man at the altar? MGM Motion Picture Group President Jonathan Glickman and Senior Vice President Cassidy Lange will oversee the production. We are excited that Washington’s star power will soon return to the big screen.
