Emerging Opportunities: Job Growth Potential in the Land of Logistics
It’s always good to be knowledgeable about job trends, especially in today’s saturated market. And apparently, one of the emerging, in-demand skills is logistics, a base of knowledge that includes managing goods distribution on a local, national and global scale.
According to Brazen Careerist contributor Amy Fry, this window of opportunity provides perks such as being able to control your own professional destiny and spice up your work day by not doing the same things repeatedly. She writes: “Under the logistics umbrella, you have customer service, transportation, operations, purchasing, warehousing, materials handling, strategy, inventory control and forecasting. There’s a lot of opportunity–seize it!”
Many industries are in need of skilled logistics professionals, including food and beverage, consumer goods, industrial goods, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, retail and government.
“One day you’ll work on moving a giant piece of machinery across the country; the next, you’ll work on shipping first aid supplies to a city’s residents in the wake of a natural disaster,” Fry writes. “Time flies when you’re invested.”
