Lauderdale, Florida, says that when it contracted the hip-hop mogul to do a signature line of cologne, it was set to make $50 million in profits over two years, but Carter hasn’t promoted or been involved with the making of or continuation of the line. The suit also alleges that he has not held up to his end of the agreed upon public appearances to promote the product, saying he declined spots on Good Morning America
and at major retail outlets like Macy’s. They say he also missed development meetings for subsequent colognes and did not post the contractually-required social media promos.

The line, called Gold Jay-Z, was launched in 2013 accompanied by a promo video that uses a Rick Ross song as its soundtrack. It retails for up to $95 at retailers including Lord & Taylor and Macy’s.

Reports indicate that neither Carter nor his camp have responded to the claims.
