Jamie Foxx might be showing off his athletic prowess in recent social media posts, but insiders say the actor is still “struggling” behind the scenes with his health.
Foxx remains on the road to recovery since coming out of the “medical emergency” that had him hospitalized in April. Since giving fans a health update on Instagram in July, the Academy Award-winning actor has made a slow return to social media.
He recently shared a video showing his ability to throw a football into a basketball hoop from the far end of the court. He’s also been promoting his new film, The Burial, with Tommy Lee Jones, and mourning
the loss of his friend Keith Edwin, among other personal posts. But sources say Foxx is still “struggling” with his health behind the scenes and has had to pull out of hosting a television show amid his recovery. Foxx was set to the game show We Are Family alongside his older daughter, Corinne Foxx. But the gig has since been taken on by Anthony Anderson and his mother, Doris Bowman.
Insiders claim it’s a sign of Foxx still being on the mend since suffering from his still unknown medical emergency.
“Jamie pulling out of another project has friends worried that he hasn’t recuperated as well as everyone thinks,” an insider told the National Enquirer
, via Radar Online. “He’s struggling, but Jamie has been very private about what happened and his recovery.”
While Foxx is releasing films that were shot prior to the health scare, hosting a regularly occurring game show is too much for his current state, according to reports.
“In the end, Jamie wasn’t ready to add hosting a new game show to his schedule,” the source added. “He’s being very careful regarding his health issues. He may not be at 100 percent, but the last thing he wants is to mess with the progress he has made.”
It’s said that his daughter Corinne “is disappointed” the show won’t happen but “she understands her dad had to put his health first,” insiders say. Meanwhile, Foxx is recovering, it’s just not to the point of doing too much too soon.
“Jamie hasn’t had any major setbacks recently, still he doesn’t want to overdo it,” the source said. “He feels better than he has in months — and he owes that to ongoing physical therapy.
“Jamie doesn’t want to risk anything if he doesn’t have to,” they continued. “He’s got a birthday coming up on December 13 and says he wants to celebrate many more.”
