A South Carolina Supreme Court overturned a settlement dividing James Brown’s multimillion dollar estate, claiming a former attorney general did not consider Brown’s last wishes when compiling the deal.
Attorney General Henry McMaster dealt a settlement that split Brown’s estate for charity, his widow, Tomi Raw Hynie, and his adult children back in 2009.
The justices claimed Brown wished most of his money went to charity. The Godfather of soul died of heart failure on Christmas Day 2006 at the age of 73.
