If you haven’t heard yet, the IRS has a handy smartphone app so that you can get your tax information on the go. Better yet, the newest version of the IRS2Go app is here. Version 4.0 is available in both English and Spanish and has a host of cool features.
You can:
1) Get your tax-refund status. The refund status tracker allows you to follow your tax return throughout the IRS process. You can check on the status of your refund 24 hours after the IRS confirms receipt of your e-filed return or four weeks after you have mailed a paper return.
2) Obtain tax records. Need a copy of your bill? The IRS has you covered. You can request a copy of your tax bill or a transcript of your tax return. Make sure your mailing address is correct. The copy will be sent to the address you have on file with the IRS.
3) Find free tax preparation. A new tool on IRS2Go will assist you with locating free help through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs.
