Harlem’s Fashion Row Launches College Tour with Wouri Vice, Kimberly Goldson and More

If you’re an aspiring fashion careerist and you attend Hampton University, Howard University, North Carolina A&T, or Clark Atlanta University, you’re in luck. Harlem Fashion Row, an organization dedicated to increasing diversity in fashion, has launched “HFR-U,” a multicity tour that provides students access to the fashion industry through conversations and real life fashion experiences.

From Sept. 29- Oct. 22, students will have a chance to get up close and personal with a rock star panel of experts in the fashion industry including Elaine Welteroth, Teen Vogue Beauty & Health Director, Wouri Vice, celebrity stylist, Kimberly Goldson, fashion designer, and Shawn Howell, VP Divisional Merchandise Manager and Shani Lawson, Macy’s buyer.

Since 2007, Harlem Fashion Row has discovered and showcased emerging talent of color through a variety of national events and programs. According to a statement released by the organization, with Verizon as the sponsor, HFR-U “strives to inspire, nurture, and advance the

next generation of diverse fashion industry talents.” Brandice Henderson, the founder of Harlem Fashion Row, created HFR-U to offer professional development and networking opportunities to undergraduate students from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

To continue its mission HFR-U, will kick off at Hampton University and continue on through Howard University, North Carolina A&T, and end at Clark Atlanta University.
