GUBA Awards Comes Stateside With Event At Pierre Hotel

The international, world-renowned GUBA Awards are coming to America.  The event held to celebrate the achievements of Ghanaians and African businesses and individuals based in the United States will be held at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel on September 26, 2019.

GUBA Enterprise has been increasing its presence in the United States following the tremendous international success of GUBA UK over the past decade.  “The African Diaspora in the Americas continues to influence Arts and Culture, Business, sport, technology, and entertainment. GUBA recognizes and celebrates the efforts of these game-changers, as a way to encourage the promotion of growth and innovation in Africa, to the rest of the world” says Dentaa Amoateng MBE, Founder of GUBA Enterprise.

Many Heads of State, dignitaries and influencers from around the world are expected to attend the upcoming Awards in New York City.

Black Enterprise discussed the history of GUBA, the upcoming Awards, and what can be expected from GUBA Enterprise in the U.S. in the future with Dentaa Amoateng.

What are some of GUBA’s biggest achievements to-date?

To date GUBA Awards has evolved into GUBA Enterprise with enterprise branches: GUBA Awards UK, GUBA Awards USA, GUBA Expo, GUBA Foundation, GUBA Careers and GUBA Diaspora Card.  GUBA Enterprise have been represented at FIFA during the unveiling of the Arthur Walton statue at the Headquarters in Switzerland. GUBA is also a multi award winner and also facilitated the visit of HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess’ visit to Ghana including the most spectacular fashion show ever at a state banquet

When and why did you decide to bring the GUBA Awards to the United States?

Following the continuous success in the United Kingdom for almost a decade, GUBA Enterprise were ready for the GUBA Awards to be introduced to the United States to expand its reach to the trailblazers within the Ghanaian-American society. We needed a universal celebration of diasporas at Stateside too. The GUBA Awards USA will be focused on unveiling and rewarding high achievers in various industries within the Ghanaian community, whilst creating a platform for networking and fostering business relationships between the USA, Ghana and Africa in general.

What are you looking forward to at this award show?

We are looking forward to being able to showcase and celebrate all the dynamic achievements from Africa and the diaspora as well giving our guests the opportunities to engage with some of Africa’s most prominent world leaders.

We are also looking forward to finding out who the award winners are for Charity of the Year, creative influencers of the year and many more. We are also excited to honour and commemorate our Black Star Awardees; Prof Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, Dr Thomas Mensah, Patrick Awuah, Nancy Adu-Bonsrah, Simon Fuller, Nicholas Buamah, Rosa Whitaker, Rachel Laryea, Daphne Mashile-Nkosi, Mr. Richileu Dennis and Mary Spio.

“GUBA Enterprise are really excited to continue expanding their footprint around the world with initiatives like the GUBA Awards. Between the 5 African Presidents and world leaders/influencers as well as prominent figures from the NAACP, we know this is going to be a phenomenal experience for everyone involved” said Amoateng.
