This past Saturday, Sophia Amoruso, New York Times best-selling author of #GirlBoss and founder of popular fashion retailer Nasty Gal, was the keynote speaker and special guest at the third installment of Glam University’s ‘Girl Power Sleepover.’ This event is an overnight business boot camp, focused on educating and empowering women in a more relatable way. Held at Atlanta’s popular W Hotel downtown, female entrepreneurs from across the country joined together to learn valuable business advice, strategies, and tips from some of today’s powerhouse women in business.

Sabrina Peterson, Founder of Glam University, kicked off the Girl Power Sleepover with her Business A-Z and Flip classes, followed by numerous sessions including a Branding 101 class hosted by media maven Karen Civil, Rolling Out CEO Munson Steed, and Michelle Alexander of General Motors; a breakout class with New York Times
forwp-incontent-custom-banner ampforwp-incontent-ad1">This event truly inspired attendees to network; Kandice Marie, owner of My Fair Sweets & Girl Power Sleepover expert states, “With whom you assemble, you will soon resemble.†The highlight of the evening was an intimate Q&A with New York Times best-selling author of #GirlBoss and Nasty Gal Founder Sophia Amoruso. This hour-long segment, moderated by Sabrina Peterson, went into depth on Sophia’s journey from an aspiring entrepreneur to a multi-million dollar cultural icon. Sophia shared her personal marketing tips, various books and videos to read for financial and business insight, the do’s and don’ts of venture capitalism, and more with the audience.
Preceding her panel, Sophia was thanked and formally welcomed to the city of Atlanta by Sarah-Elizabeth Reed – wife of Mayor Kasim Reed and the city of Atlanta’s First Lady. Sarah noted Amoruso and Peterson to be “an inspiration to all, showcasing the true definition of beauty and business.†The evening wrapped with a private dinner for the event experts and then pajamas and a movie with all experts and guests. “The Girl Power Sleepover was an amazing and impactful event.
