Two teen boys from Brunswick, Georgia were charged with murder Friday, both accused of fatally shooting a 13-month-old boy who was in a stroller as his mother pushed him.
Authorities received a description of the boys and checked their attendance records to ensure they were not in classes on Thursday. Officers searched for the young suspects and they were taken into custody.
The mother of the 13-month old baby, Sherry West, explained to reporters that the shooting occurred when one of the teens demanded money.
Police Chief Tobe Green identified the eldest suspect to be De’Marquise Elkins, 17, and informed reporters he will be tried as an adult in criminal proceedings. The younger suspect, 14, was not identified because of his age. Both suspects have been charged with first degree murder.
