NBA legend Vince Carter has announced the official launch of the Vince Carter Scholarship and Mentorship Program in the Toronto area of Canada. The scholarship, which amounts to $25,000 per student, will be primarily targeting high school students who have taken up a passion for sports, music, film, fashion, broadcasting, media, or science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Students who will be scholarship recipients
will attend the top-caliber private schools with several unique academic programs geared for helping gifted students become their very best self. For the program launch, the first high school to participate in this unique opportunity is J Addison School in Markham. Their auxiliary programs for younger students, 12 to 15 years old, include summer camps for civics & careers, sports, fashion & film, music, and leadership.Although all students of all races and cultures are eligible, Carter is strongly encouraging the Black community, Indigenous community, people of color, and young women to apply for this opportunity. Stat
istics show that there are lower numbers of minorities and women within the named employment sectors, executive positions associated with the noted program fields but more noticeably in the STEM sector. The application process has been made available to students worldwide between the ages of 16 and 18 who will be entering grade 11 and/or 12 in September 2021
and each year going forward. Key program components will include specialized academic courses, internships, and work experience, including shadowing corporate board executives.Students who are interested and qualify may access the exclusive application portal www.parismedia.org/community/ or email info@parismedia.org.
The Vince Carter Scholarship program is also geared to help the Greater Toronto Area post-secondary students at York University, Seneca College, and Ryerson University who may be currently pursuing careers in the identified scholarship program fields. Summer jobs and internship opportunities for these students will become available as auxiliary spin-offs.
