Former G League Player Admits To Murder Of Marayna Rodgers
A former player for the Stockton Kings was arraigned in court on Tuesday in connection with the death of Marayna Rodgers.
CBS News Sacramento reports Chance Comanche, a former player for the Stockton Kings, was arraigned in court on Tuesday, facing serious charges of kidnapping and murder in connection with the death of 23-year-old Marayna Rodgers in Nevada. Details emerging from a Las Vegas Police Department arrest report obtained by CBS News outline a plot orchestrated over several months between Comanche, 27, and his alleged accomplice and girlfriend, 19-year-old Sakari Harnden.
According to the report, Comanche confessed on Dec. 15 to the murder of Rodgers, revealing that he and Harndon strangled her inside Harndon’s vehicle. Text messages presented in the report expose a sinister plan to lure Rodgers away from her friends, ending in her tragic demise.
The report discloses that Comanche allegedly used an HDMI cord to carry out the gruesome act after falsely inviting Rodgers under the pretext of a double prostitution meet-up. The investigation suggests that the murder occurred shortly after the Stockton Kings played the G League Ignite in Las Vegas on Dec. 5. Subsequent to Comanche’s confession, detectives were able to locate Rodgers’ remains in a Las Vegas suburb.
Arrested at the Stockton Kings’ practice facility on Dec. 15, Comanche appeared in a Sacramento County courtroom on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Having waived his extradition rights, he is poised to be transported from Sacramento to Clark County, Nevada, where the legal proceedings will unfold. Las Vegas police apprehended Harnden on Dec. 13.
Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington State, vanished while visiting Las Vegas with friends, and her disappearance was reported on Dec. 7. The revelations from the arrest report shed light on the disturbing details of the alleged plot and the tragic outcome that unfolded.
Comanche’s attorney, seen leaving the courtroom with the former G League player’s mother and another family member, refrained from responding to questions from the press outside the courthouse on Tuesday. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the two individuals allegedly plotting to kidnap and kill Rodgers over two distinct issues.
