Launched Jan. 21 in recognition and celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

, the Flatiron Opportunity Scholarship will provide ten full and 50 partial tuition scholarships to Flatiron School’s industry-leading software engineering and data science courses in NYC, DC, Houston, Atlanta, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, and online.

There will be a flagship program in addition to an online program and the curriculum will be heavily focused around software engineering and data science.

Since 2012, the organization has been teaching students full stack JavaScript and Ruby and helping them launch careers as web developers at companies including Spotify, The New York Times, NASA, and other major corporations. The data science component is newer to the program. It gives students the breadth and depth needed to become well-rounded data scientists and exposes them to one of the tech industry’s most coveted sectors.

OHUB@Flatiron’s will host the Tech to Wealth Tour across six cities that will feature a networking cocktail hour, an interactive panel with local tech innovators and influencers, and to help spread the word about both organizations — an exclusive after-party with five-time Grammy-nominated record producer DJ Young Guru.

Notable alumni from the Flatiron School have gone on to work as engineers at major tech and media corporations that include Vogue, StreetEasy, BlackRock, Google, Spotify,

and NASA. Additionally, Opportunity Hub has made its mark in the industry by assisting underrepresented minorities in tech for sereval years and founding many initiatives that give back to the community.
