Dawn Dickson, CEO of Flat Out Heels, won a $25,000 cash prize recently in an entrepreneur pitch contest held at the annual PowerMoves.NOLA conference in New Orleans.

The Miami based business appears to be the solution to foot
pain caused by high-heels. The fashionable flats roll up to fit inside a purse or small clutch. The slipper-like shoes are available in hotels, nightclubs, malls and airports inside of Flat Out Heels vending machines that make for a quick and convenient wardrobe change.PowerMoves.NOLA is an
annual conference that convenes the country’s premier entrepreneurs of color. The event was held in New Orleans on July 1 thru 3, 2015 to coincide with ESSENCE Festival and was designed to connect nationally-sourced entrepreneurs with advisors, experts and investors; according to The Miami Herald.Dickson released a company newsletter to announce her big win.
“This has been an award-winning week for myself and Flat Out of Heels,” said Dickson. “This is what entrepreneurship is all about. The extreme highs make the extreme lows worth it. It feels good to see the long hours, days, months, [and] years paying off.”
In a recent Behind the Brand video, Dickson shares that she’s been an entrepreneur for over 14 years and that Flat Out of Heels recently launched a new celebrity collection.
