According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the police within the St. Louis suburb are now officially going to wear body cameras. With the hope that this will result in better policing, the newspaper was told by Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson that his units have already begun wearing the devices.

Stemming from a protest that happened on Saturday, August 30,

the march was to continue to raise awareness about the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown–who was killed on August 9 by Officer Darren Wilson. Jackson said the department was given about 50 body cameras by two companies about a week ago. Representatives came in to train the officers during the march on using the devices.

According to the newspaper, the body cams attach to the officer’s uniforms and record audio and video. Each officer in Ferguson will get to use one, but the larger goal is to equip all police with body cameras to ensure that both sides of the story are told if a situation such as Michael Brown’s were to happen again.
