Though the American economy has been looking up in recent months, times are still hard for many American families and it really showed this holiday season, the Huffington Post reports.
Evidence of the current struggle came on a conference call Thursday when Family Dollar, a large national chain that markets to low-income customers, said that December sales were low.
“Clearly [our customers] don’t have as much for discretionary purchases as they once did,” Howard Levine, CEO of Family Dollar said.
