Ex-Wife Pays Tribute to DMX in Heartfelt Social Media Post Celebrating Her 50th Birthday
DMX’s ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, celebrated her 50th birthday on Saturday with a special tribute to the late rapper on Instagram.
“With much prayer, pulling. Crying and a roller coaster of emotions,” the post begins. “I couldn’t bring myself to just celebrate and close the last 50yrs of my life without celebrating the life of one of the most important person in the world to me, my Ex-husband.”
“Everything we went through was necessary,” Simmons shared. “It made me the woman I am today.”
Ex-Wife Celebrates 50th Birthday by Honoring DMX
Tashera Simmons turned 50 years old a day after the family confirmed the passing of DMX.
“Thank you everyone for the over-poor of your love and concern,” says Simmons in her birthday Instagram post. “It’s a very tuff time right now for me and my family…but I learned from one of the strongest men I knew. We will get through. God bless you all.”

Simmons and DMX met at 18 years old and tied the knot in 1999, according to USA Today. The two divorced in 2014. They had four children together: Xavier, 28, Tacoma, 21, Praise Mary Ella, 15, and Sean, 18.
“He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him,” a statement from the family, released to TMZ, read. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”
Paying Tribute to DMX
DMX died on Friday, April 9, 2021, at White Plains Hospital in New York. He was 50 years old.
Fans and friends have shared their condolences and memories all over social media.
Many have watched the opening of the “Miss You” video to recall the heartfelt words he used to pay tribute to Aaliyah.
