Eviction Rates For Black Women On Par With Black Male Incarcerations
A study conducted by the MacArtuhr Foundation reveals that while black men are still the highest number of incarcerated populace in prison, black women are on par with being evicted from their homes.
Titled “How Housing Matters,” in any given year there are approximately 16,000 adults and children who are kicked out in Milwaukee from approximately 6,000 housing units. This figure equates to 16 households evacuated from their homes every day.
These statistics only account for court-ordered evictions, but this is still eye-opening when you factor in coercive tactics like paying unwanted tenants to vacate, housing condemnations and landlord foreclosures.
