Entrepreneurs Summit: Author and Motivation Expert Lisa Nichols Confirmed to Speak
Fresh off her dynamic appearance at Black Enterprise’s Women of Power Summit, Lisa Nichols, motivational guru and CEO of Motivating the Masses, will bring tips on achieving success and more as a speaker at Black Enterprise’s 2015 Entrepreneurs Summit. Hosted by Nationwide, the 20th annual summit heads South to take over the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, May 13-15, for three days of small business panels, resources and networking.
“Black Enterprise has had an amazing history of showing possibility for us as a culture,” she says. “They have been No. 1 for me in displaying African-American financial growth and the intention of being in great service while doing great business.”
Nichols, referred to by industry peers as the “breakthrough specialist,†is one of the first African-American women to own a publicly traded company. When it comes to business, her knack for dynamically inspiring people to succeed has led to a profitable company.
The author of six books, Nichols tours the world, consults corporations, shines on TV and, after a featured role in the hit film The Secret catapulted to a level that brings her story and works a long way from being a single mother in South Central Los Angeles. “True power is not trying to dodge the bullet,†she said, during her recent appearance at Black Enterprise’s Women of Power Summit. “Power is in the willingness to show up, even if the people around you get uncomfortable.â€

When speaking, Nichols often shares her transformation. As a young woman on public assistance, she saved her money, attended conferences on entrepreneurship and brand creation and become a millionaire entrepreneur. “I felt rock bottom, and I realized, ‘I have to do something,’†she said in an interview with NBC. “I have to be my own rescue. No one’s going to rescue me.â€
Always looking forward, she now teaches others how to do the same and tap into their limitless power with her “No Matter What†system based on her New York Times bestseller of the same name. As a trainer for corporate companies including L’Oreal, Toyota and Wells Fargo, Nichols has stood on stages nationwide touching the lives of millions of adults. She has also lifted spirits to prevent suicides and inspired drop outs to return to school through her work in her early days of creating the nonprofit, Motivating the Teen Spirit.
She now continues through Motivating the Masses, where she often works along with greats such as Steve Harvey in offering workshops on how to bypass self-doubt, prepare and climb the ladder to success. A visionary, Nichols founded the Transformational Leadership Council made up of other power figures dedicated to changing lives. “There‘s a deep swelling in my heart of possibilities. I believe in transformation, because I’m a product of it,” she says. “Action brings forth more transformation.”
