I recently attended TD Jakes’s premier empowerment conference for women: Woman Thou Art Loosed in Atlanta. Whenever I attend an event my objective is to come away with nuggets that help to transform my business. I also look for significant principles that I can pass along to my clients and business colleagues.
@BishopJakes: I will not be on this porch next year! Be fully committed so that you will not be in the same physical, mental, financial, or emotional condition as [you were] last year! We are quickly approaching 2015 — NOW is the time to access your current position. The only way to shift your business for the better is to take ownership: Own the good, own the bad. Then make the changes necessary for you to have more positive results.
@BishopJakes: You can’t do anything about where you’ve been, but you can change where you’re going! If you procrastinated 75% of the time this year, there is nothing you can do about that now. What you can do is become very intentional and very focused on getting things accomplished. An accountability coach can help you in this area by monitoring your progress.
@IAmSophiaNelson: Never cut what you can untie! It is extremely important in business to develop the right professional relationships. There are times when things can go bad. Use extreme caution in dismissing customers, employees, or vendors that are not the perfect fit for your company. You never know when you may need to cross their path again. Remain respectful. Talk tactfully about your pain points, and discuss “the issue,†not the person. Agree to disagree in a peaceful manner.
@IAmSophiaNelson: The way to dispel stereotypes is to not live up to them!
Sometimes doing business with a small business can mean a slightly higher price. Build your business reputation based upon your performance and set your fees accordingly. Let your price speak for the outstanding quality, value, services, and products you can deliver. Expect people to do business with you because you are the best in your industry, and not for any other reason.
@DrStevePerry: A dream without action is just sleep! Action is required to bring any dream, vision, or plan to reality! As you develop goals, make sure you create action steps with those goals; action steps that are both strategically focused and practically balanced are essential to ensure your overall success.
