Eat Your Way Through Nassau, Bahamas

The Bahamas has always been special to me. Not only because of family roots that stem across multiple islands, but because it is absolutely true what they say, “It’s better in the Bahamas.” It’s better in many ways: the people, the beaches, the resorts, and culture (honestly, there’s nothing in the world like Junkanoo).

Despite numerous visits, I had never experienced all of the culinary treats that Nassau has to offer.

While the Bahamas has quite a few dishes that are unique to the destination, I’d never gotten a taste for everything that showcases the local cuisine. So, when I learned of Tru Bahamian Food Tours, I knew it was something that I had to experience the next time I made a visit.

Let me start by saying that the tour was everything I could have hoped for and more. Tru Bahamian

Food Tours takes you on an entertaining culinary adventure through downtown Nassau. The walking attractions take you to seven authentic food and drink tastings at renowned local restaurants and one-of-a-kind specialty food stores, while also providing fascinating historical, architectural, and cultural insight. I can honestly say, at the end of our three-hour tour, I left with new culinary perspectives…and a very happy palate!

My favorite part of the tour was the culinary

diversity. The stops range from unique specialty food stores and local eateries, to family-owned ethnic restaurants. Each location is run by a chef or local artisan who honors the cultural and culinary traditions of The Bahamas. The tour guide was not only knowledgeable on the food, but also the history, people, and the culture of the Bahamas.

If it’s your first time in the Bahamas, this is a perfect opportunity to explore The Bahamas’ political and commercial center, as you stroll along the charming streets of Nassau’s historic downtown. Tru Bahamian Food Tours’ local guides will share their knowledge and recommendations for “architectural gems, enchanting local flora, fascinating colonial relics, hidden venues for live music, poetry and dancing, and exciting local attractions and restaurants.”

Whether just stopping through on a cruise or an extended vacation, you must make time for Tru Bahamian Food Tours.
