retire,” says Battle. “I’m pleased with my investments today because they’re pretty diversified and I’m seeing some growth.”
Battle is also pleased that this experience has moved her to work on her investment plan regularly with Bonds. She says they work as a team to determine where she should invest her money and when she should cut her losses. “Divorced women need to be extremely careful before going out on their own and trying to invest a large sum of money in things they have very little knowledge of, particularly if their spouse handled all the investments,” warns Bonds. Although Battle tried to educate herself quickly after the divorce, she didn’t exercise enough caution. Bonds says of her collaboration with Battle, “[She] is no longer waiting for the bull market, but she is set to benefit as the market rebounds.”
