Dennis Kimbro to Keynote Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council Conference
More than 500 minority business owners, corporate executives and procurement professionals from the world’s largest purchasing organizations will convene at the 2013 Carolina’s Minority Supplier Development Council’s annual Business Opportunity Conference (BOC) at the Embassy Suites in Concord, North Carolina.
The BOC offers a unique platform to get ahead and lead the race in aligning businesses with proven best practices that support supplier diversity through building relationships and increasing economic sustainability.
Best-selling author and business educator Dennis Kimbro, Ph.D. will provide the keynote address during the Wednesday, Aug. 14 business luncheon. Dr. Kimbro is the author of “What Makes the Great Great,” “Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice,” and “The Wealth Choice: Success Secrets of Black Millionaires.” Kimbro recently spoke at Black Entreprise’s Entrepreneur’s Convention.
This year’s conference, themed “Leading Economic Impact — One Connection at A Time,” will offer attendees three full days of networking activities and business opportunities to cultivate relationships, partnerships and professional affiliations. Workshops, seminars and panelists will discuss ways for Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and CMSDC corporate members to leverage collaborative partnerships or joint ventures to advance contract opportunities and supplier diversity initiatives.
The welcome reception will host more than 200 participants and integrate the NASCAR team-building model, which includes NASCAR interactive racing games, pit-crew challenges, and car racing simulations that provide even more opportunities to interact, network, build relationships and have fun.
“Annually, America’s largest corporations spend close to $100 billion buying goods and services from minority-owned businesses,” says CMSDC president and CEO Eric Watson. “The objective for this year’s BOC is to enhance collaboration between our Corporate Members and MBEs. We will continue to Innovate, Elevate and Transform the ways in which we advance corporate supplier diversity and support the growth of minority businesses throughout the region.”
