Has it really been 10 years since Dave Chapelle left his very funny and provocative comedy series on Comedy Central?
Guess who is coming back? According to Your Black World, Chappelle will be headlining The Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Tour, presented by ‘Funny or Die.’ The tour is slated to begin later this summer and will also feature performers Al Madrigal, Brody Stevens, Chris D’Elia, Demetri Martin, Hannibal Buress, Jim Jefferies, John Mulaney, and Kristen Schaal and comedy/musical act Flight of the Conchords.
Chappelle, who famously quit his Comedy Central TV show, Chapelle’s Show, when the show was a ratings blockbuster, has been a virtual recluse except for a few spot appearances around the country. In 2005, he told Oprah one of the reasons he left the show, “I felt in a lot of instances I was deliberately being put through stress because when you’re a guy who generates money, people have a vested interested in controlling you,†Chappelle said.
Tickets for the The Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Tour go on sale June 21st.
