Damian Lillard Lands Reported $100 Million Sneaker Deal with Adidas
The 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year, Portland Trail Blazer Damian Lillard, has signed one of the most lucrative sneaker contracts of any NBA player not named LeBron or Derrick. The first time NBA All-Star has exceeded expectations as he leads his team into the playoffs.
USA Today is reporting that although financial terms weren’t disclosed, the deal is for 8 years with the potential of being extended to 10 years based on incentives.
Lillard made history in New Orleans this past year by becoming the first player in league history to take part in five events, including the game. He took part in the slam dunk competition, the three-point contest, the Rising Stars game and the skills challenge.
Adidas head of global basketball sports marketing, Chris Grancio, called Lillard “one of the cornerstones of the adidas brand.”
