Columbus Short Accepts Plea Deal After Missing Court Date
According to The New York Daily News, actor Columbus Short, formerly from TV show “Scandal,”has agreed to a plea deal in his domestic violence case. After missing a court date, the judge set bail at $500,000, which spurred his decision to accept the deal.
Short, 31, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor spousal battery stemming from a confrontation with estranged wife Tanee McCall on Feb. 3. Judge Christine Ewell sentenced him to three years of probation and either 45 days in jail or 30 days of community labor. The actor chose community labor with the understanding he would be hauled off to jail if he failed to complete it.
Short was also ordered to complete a 52-week domestic violence program, attend 26 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, surrender any firearms, and stay at least 100 yards away from his wife, who has filed for divorce.
