Chris Lighty’s Wife Denies Role in Death, Officially Ruled Suicide

Hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty‘s estranged wife reportedly claimed his death, which was officially ruled a suicide by a medical examiner, was not a result of her or their marriage. His wife, Veronica, also claims she and Lighty did not get into a fight, according to a friend of hers.

The couple did however get into a verbal dispute, in which Lighty said “I’m tired of this,â€ and walked to the back yard of their Bronx home and shot himself in the head with a 9-mm. handgun. The two were in the midst of a divorce . It is believed that Lighty’s suicide stemmed from his financial woes, in which he owes as much as $300,000 in unpaid state and federal taxes. The friend who spoke on behalf of Veronica gave no credence to the mogul’s financial strains.

Lighty was a very well heeled manager in the music industry, having brokered million-dollar deals for the likes of Mariah Carey and 50 Cent. He was 44.
