Chipotle has become the first fast-food chain to label the ingredients it uses that contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
Many health advocates have pushed for the labeling of the controversial food stuffs for years, though most in the science community say GMOs pose no more risk than unaltered food.
The list of genetically modified foods is not posted in any stores; it’s buried on its website. 12 of the 24 ingredients listed on the site are marked with a red “G” — indicating the presence of GMOs.
The GMO-containing ingredients include all the tortillas and rice, plus all of the meats, except pork.
