Today is National Running day. Whether its signing up for a marathon, planning a run, or encouraging a friend to get involved in the sport, thousands of people will participate in a coast to coast celebration of running.

National Running Day occurs every year on the first Wednesday of every year, but with summer at our doorstep, the timing couldn’t be better to add outdoor jogging to your summer daily routine. Here are a few national running clubs to consider:
Black Men Run (not affiliated with Black Girls Run) — Encourages health and wellness among African American men by promoting
a culture of running and jogging to stay fit encouraging “A Healthy Brotherhood. Black Men Run has events in over 15 cities. GirlTrek — is a national nonprofit that mobilizes women to live their healthiest, most fulfilled lives through a habit of daily walking. Through local events and social media campaigns, the organization seeks to create a health movement by encouraging its growing network of 200,000 supporters and 400 neighborhood-based volunteers to
- Lace up their sneakers and walk each day as a declaration of self-care!
- Heal their bodies, inspire “our†daughters and reclaim the streets of our neighborhoods.
- Re-establish walking as a healing tradition in Black communities as tribute to the women who walked before us.

Black Girls Run — With a mission to encourage more African American women to run, founder Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks-Rocha, started the blog Black Girls run, which quickly developed into a community and movement of thousands of women across the country.
