I’m a girl who loves her dresses, especially for the workplace, but this fall, I’m loving the cut and style of matchstick pants. They are similar to cigarette pants, cut close to the body and cropped either right above or below the ankle. Matchstick pants are flattering on most body types and can add a little personality and flare to your work wardrobe. They’re also a tad bit dressier than regular old trousers and top casual Friday denim any day.

The key to matchstick pants is the flattering silhouette combined with perfect patterns. They come in a variety of prints and textures, from silk and lace to cotton and brocade, so options are endless. (Shop the looks here.)

  • When picking out a pair, go for styles that will hug your figure or try a stretch fabric for a more forgiving fit. They shouldn’t be too tight but have a slim loose fit to them.
  • They pair great with silk blouses, chunky knits and preferably pointy-toe pumps to drive home the dress appeal of the pants. They are a great way to mix things up at work and show your coworkers just who wears the pants around the office.

Try them and tweet your pictures to @blackenterprise to get your chance to show off your look on the Style Suite.
