Today’s love seems to be more money focused than love based. The longer I live, the more perplexed I become. Love in America seems to be drifting more and more towards superficiality than rooted in substance. If you desire to find love in the 21st century, it seems a couple of the questions you need to ask yourself are, “Can I afford it?” or “Is my net worth enough?”
From matchmaking sites, to blogs, to television shows and movies, there seems to
be an increasing focus on money in order to establish a love connection. This is very concerning because something that was once a matter of the heart h as now shifted to a matter of the wallet/purse. A number of companies with specific business models for singles seeking mates possessing money/wealth seem to be appearing daily. Sugar daddies. Sugar mommas. Millionaire dates sites. The list goes on and on. Some high-end experts specializing in this market are making handsome salaries by charging clients $50,000-$500,000 a year (see $100,000 Matchmaker). Love now seems to be a commodity that can only be purchased.I’m exaggerating a little when I paint the “only money can buy me love” picture, but it’s something that’s definitely becoming more prevalent in our society. What message are we sending to our single public service or nonprofit employees who desire love? Is it now impossible for people making $30,000 to $50,ooo to find love because of money?
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not against stability.
However, I believe there is a considerable difference between having the stability to support a family versus needing to make six-figures in order to experience love. Trust me, courtrooms are filled with wealthy people every single day whose incomes and wealth couldn’t save their marriages. This article poses the question: Can you afford love? The answer: Absolutely.
Each of you has the capacity to afford the things that allow you to encounter true love. Communication, respect, sacrifice, selflessness, loyalty, commitment and honesty are all things you have access to at no monetary cost, all of which contribute to making a multi-million dollar relationships and marriages using the currency of love.
