Brewer Advances at Walmart


It was announced today at the Black Enterprise 20/20 Vision economic forum in Washington, D.C., that Rosalind Brewer, division president of Southeast operations for Walmart Stores Inc., has been promoted to executive vice president of Walmart U.S. and president of Walmart Stores South. In her new position, Brewer is responsible for store operations, logistics and real estate assets with a revenue base of an estimated $85 billion.

News of the promotion was delivered to forum attendees by Black Enterprise President and CEO Earl “Butch” Graves Jr., as he introduced Brewer before engaging her in a discussion about partnerships between small business and major corporations at Black Enterprise’s day-long economic forum, hosted by Walmart and held at the Liaison Hotel in Washington, D.C. According to Graves, Brewer’s promotion was announced by Walmart U.S. Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer William S. Simon at 12:15 p.m. today.

In her previous position, for which Brewer was named to Black Enterprise’s list of the 75 Most Powerful Women in Business (click here to see the list), Brewer was responsible for managing sales and operation plans, including strategic growth opportunities for 800 stores and 250,000 associates.
