(Image: File)"][/caption] Today, the nominees for the 47th annual NAACP Image Awards were announced, with 'Creed', 'Straight Outta Compton', 'Black-ish' and 'Empire' leading in motion picture and television categories. Television series such as the popular Shondaland hits  'Scandal' and 'How to Get Away with Murder'  received multiple nominations including Outstanding Drama Series and nods to both Viola Davis and Kerry Washington for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series. Outstanding Independent Motion picture nominees 'Chi-raq' and 'Beasts of No Nation' also received a number of nods in the motion picture category for outstanding performances. Taraji P. Henson, Anthony Anderson, Gabrielle Union, Michael B. Jordan, Will Smith and relative newcomers Teyonnah Parris and O'Shea Jackson, Jr. are among the nominees for their performances in television and motion pictures. In the recording category, Columbia Records artists such as Pharrell Williams, Jussie Smollettt and Yazz lead with 10 nominations. The NAACP Image Awards continues to celebrate the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film, and honors individuals who  promote social justice through creative endeavors. The winners will be announced Friday, February 5, 2016 during two hour event, broadcasted live on TV ONE.
