This is an almost astonishing development in the more than seven decades of late-night talk shows in television history.

This also comes after news of Sasheer Zamata

joining the cast of Saturday Night Live

mid-season and becoming the first black woman since Maya Rudolph left the show in 2007. Ruffin was reportedly part of SNL’s “secret” black women-only auditions. An experienced comedian and actress, she’s an alumnus of Chicago’s iO Theater and a former performer at Second City comedy club.
