“The idea is to help those vendors reach black consumers,†he says. “And shoppers appreciate it because they won’t see these items at the large retailers.â€
Bond said nationally blacks spend about 95 cents out of each dollar outside the black community.
“The challenge . . . is getting the consumer to support these black businesses because black economic development is the lifeblood of the community,†Bond says.
