How many lit celebrations for black men can you name? OK, there are a few, but there is only one Black Men XCEL Summit presented by FedEx. And starting today, we will be celebrating the best of who we are for the second year in a row at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Ladies and gentlemen, we are excited to be kicking off this event where we will be recognizing and honoring men of distinction as a community!
For the next four days, attendees will be able to relax, work out, network, and enjoy themselves at a number of lively sessions. We have everything from golf
academy classes to salsa lessons planned including a paint & sip hosted by Prudential; the art of wine tasting; brandies and cigars. And for those who like friendly competition, the Mars vs. Venus Challenge hosted by Chris Spencer will be one for the books along with the barbershop debate. Fellas, bring your A-game!It’s Time to Play Hard
If you haven’t heard, we will be hosting our first-ever spades tournament presented by Walmart where the winning team will receive a $1,000 prize! There will also be treats like ice cream and a photo booth presented by Discover Palm Beach. And what would a resort be without massages?! We know that you work hard so it’s time to play and relax by the pool and enjoy sounds by DJ Nasty during the poolside soirée.
And if you are looking to stay fresh during the event, you’ll want to stop by the Spark Studio presented by Walmart for a free haircut. Ladies, you’re welcomed, too!
Timely conversations on self-determination and self-respect in professional sports with Jemele Hill, Tommie Smith, and Keith Clinkscales presented by Carnival Corp.; making mental health a priority with Malik Yoba and Dr. Janet Taylor presented by Koch Industries/Georgia-Pacific; busting the corporate pipeline to make way for the next generation of black corporate leaders hosted by JPMorgan Chase; cracking the code to income equality presented by Prudential; and highlighting the risks of black identity in a white corporate culture hosted by Accenture are all on the program for men and women to engage in and walk away with solutions as they head back to their communities and workplaces.
And, BE Modern Man Datari Turner will be keeping it real about Hollywood and screening his new movie A Boy. A Girl. A Dream followed by a Q&A that you won’t want to miss!
We are Celebrating the Best of Who Black Men Are
And this year at the 2nd Annual XCEL Awards presented by AT&T we will be honoring men who exude excellence from the boardroom to the pulpit. We are elated to be celebrating Kenneth Chenault, chairman and managing director at General Catalyst; T.D. Jakes, bishop of Potter’s House Ministries and CEO of T.D. Jakes
Enterprises L.L.P.; and the incomparable U.S. Olympic gold medalist Tommie Smith. And we’ll be honoring our 2018 class of BE Modern Men and all of their greatness at a special reception hosted by DELL.%CODE1%
We’ll even be hosting a suit drive in partnership with BE Modern Man Gerard “PK” Kersey and his organization That Suits You to collect items for men and boys who are advancing professionally. And to eliminate the high costs of shipping, our host sponsor FedEx will be joining us in our collective effort to make this possible.
We hope that you secured your ticket so that you don’t miss out on the fun! But if you haven’t, there’s still time. See you there!
