While admission for the concert is free, tickets must be earned by taking “actions,” such as sharing the Global Citizen Festival and the Global Goals via Twitter, making phone calls to elected officials, writing letters to world leaders, and signing petitions.

“I am honored to be a part of the Global Citizen Festival,” said Beyoncé, whose Chime for Change campaign is partnering with the fest to help empower young women. “It has always stood for improving the lives of people everywhere, but this year is especially rewarding as we all join focuses and utilize our talents for one goal: to end extreme poverty globally.”

When Global Citizen CEO, Hugh Evans, was asked “What makes the 2015 Global Citizen Festival different?” Evans responded, “First, it’s a historic year for the movement. 2015 is the year when the world’s leaders will agree on the Global Goals. The stakes are higher than ever before.

We have to ensure that the goals become famous. There also has to be a movement to ensure that the goals are held accountable over the next 15 years.  The second big difference is Chris Martin’s special role as curator, which he signed on for the next 15 years. It’s an extraordinary commitment and he’s done an amazing job bringing together so many different ideas, concepts and creative partners to make this year so incredible. Third, we’re not going for quantity of action, we’re going for deeper levels of action that really impact lives.”

Previous festivals have included performances by Stevie Wonder, Carrie Underwood, Jay Z, Alicia Keys, No Doubt, John Mayer, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Roots, and more.

The show will also be streamed live on YouTube and MSNBC.com. If you’re ready to join 60,000 global citizens on the lawn at Central Park, watch the video below and visit globalcitizenfestival.com to learn more.
