Cozi TV, a news and lifestyle channel owned by NBC, is launching a half-hour weekly reality show called “Being Mandela” starring Nelson and Winnie Mandela’s granddaughters, the Hollywood Reporter reports.
Being Mandela, features sisters Zaziwe and Swati, daughters of
Nelson and Winnie Mandela’s daughter Zenani Mandela Dlamini and her husband Prince Thumbumuzi Dlamini of Swaziland. Though the sisters are royal princesses’ in Swaziland, they were born in South Africa. Their grandfather, Nelson Mandela, the anti-apartheid activist and former president of South Africa, was in prison while they were being raised in the United States. They returned to South Africa when Mandela was released.“This show is about us and our lives — both as individuals and as members of the Mandela family,” the sisters said in a statement. “It offers a window on how we far we have come to re-establish our lives. We are excited to share the story of our lives, and hopefully viewers will be able to appreciate how universal the human story is.”
