Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in High Demand

Data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York shows that 2015 college graduates are entering a job market more promising than that of recent graduates from past years, but studies still show that certain degrees are favored over others when it comes to landing employment.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)

, finance, accounting and computer science are the most in-demand majors at the bachelor’s and master’s degree level for 2015. Collecting data from August 2014 through October 2014, the survey found that more than 57.4% of employers hiring graduates

with bachelor’s degrees  intend to hire finance majors.  While the demand is still high for young professionals holding STEM-related degrees, with engineering majors making NACE’s Top 10 list, the Graduate Management Admissions Council reports that more companies are looking to hire MBA graduates in 2015 than they have in any single year since 2003.

While it’s clear certain majors tend to be favored over others when it comes to employers, results from a NACE survey show that the top five skills all companies look for, regardless of industry, are leadership, ability to work in a team, communication skills, problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic.
