Isn’t the goal to empower the world one fabulous woman of color, at a time, and who knows the power of the female ‘fem’ better than Barbie?  According to USA Today Barbie is honoring six woman “Sheroes†with one-of-a-kind custom dolls in their likeness presented at Friday’s Variety Power of Women Luncheon.

Among the cool female action figures is “Selma” director Ava DuVernay. Her custom doll sits alongside Kristin Chenoweth, Emmy Rossum, Trisha Yearwood,  Lucky editor-in-chief Eva Chen, and five year-old fashion designer  Sydney “Mayhem†Keiser.
DuVernay, nominated for two Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, five Critics Choice awards, eight NAACP Image Awards and five Independent Spirit Awards, is best known for her most recent work, SELMA, which chronicles the historic 1965 voting rights campaign led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Â As per DuVernay’s website, she directed the film from her screenplay, with Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt’s Oscar-winning company Plan B serving as producers.
