The College Board has announced Ericka Miller as its new chief of membership, governance and higher education; making her responsible for the effective integration and collaboration among these critical divisions.
Miller, who was a former English professor at Mills College, joins the College Board family with years of
education experience under her belt. Recently, she worked for the U.S. Department of Education where she served as senior advisor to former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. In that role, she worked alongside Duncan on a number of issues, including higher education funding and grant-making.[RELATED: [On the Move] Washington Post Managing Editor Kevin Merida Heads to ESPN ]
Prior to joining the Department of Education, the Virginia native served as vice president for operations and strategic leadership for The Education Trust, which is a national nonprofit organization. At The Education Trust, Miller effectively developed and implemented a 10-year strategic plan for the organization, led a comprehensive board development process, and guided the company through several growth phases that included a new state office and three supporting organizations. Before The Education Trust, Miller served as vice president and director at the executive search firm Isaacson, and served as president and COO of the McKenzie Group, which is now a part of the American Institutes for Research.
Miller earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and her master’s and doctoral degrees in English literature from Stanford University. She will step into her new role January 4, 2016.
