The convicted kidnapper and rapist, Ariel Castro, was found dead in his cell Tuesday night as a result of a hanging, according to the Huffington Post.
Castro was arrested on May 6th for the kidnapping of Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight, and Gina DeJesus, after one of the women managed to escape his Ohio home. He plead guilty to 937 charges shortly thereafter. On August 1st, he was sentenced to life in prison plus 1,000 years.
According to a prison official, Castro was found in his cell at 9:20 p.m. At the time, he was isolated from other inmates and was checked on every 30 minutes. Although measures were taken to save his life he was pronounced dead over an hour later at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
