According to Variety, AMC Theatres will show several Black movies for only $5 per ticket in celebration of Black History Month through the end of February.

“AMC has a long-standing commitment and track record of inclusive programming and initiatives that highlight diverse, creative talent behind the camera and on the big screen,” said Elizabeth Frank,

AMC’s executive vice president of worldwide programming and chief content officer, in a written statement.

The idea for the initiative was inspired by some employees who sit on AMC’s council on the African American Experience. The aim is to shine a spotlight and celebrate Black filmmakers and actors on the movie screen.

“This programming initiative, which perfectly

aligns with AMC’s inclusive programming, originated from the Council on the AMC African American Experience, an internal group of associates that strengthens AMC’s culture by defining opportunities to embrace diversity, lead with fairness and impartiality, and create a more inclusive work environment.”

Included in this programming slate will be a different title every week in February featuring critically acclaimed films starring the likes of Viola Davis, Jonathan Majors, John Boyega, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o,

and Whoopi Goldberg.

The first film that can be seen for $5 during the first week of February will start on Feb. 3 and run until Feb. 9 will be Till, which Chinonye Chukwu directed. From Feb. 10–Feb. 16, the featured movie will be Devotion starring Jonathan Majors.

The Woman King featuring Viola Davis can be seen for a discounted

price during the week of Feb. 17–Feb. 23. And to close out the specially priced Black History Month pricing will be the Marvel hit film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will run from Feb. 24–March 1.

The above-listed movies will be available in more than 200 AMC Theatres across the country. You can head to the AMC Theatres’ website to purchase tickets and showtimes for selected movies.
