During the festival Niagara Falls and the surrounding area is illuminated with more than three million lights for the holiday season. If you’ve ever wondered how people preserved and prepared food before microwaves, electric stoves and refrigerators, the Foods & Feasts of Colonial Virginia Festival is for you. During “Foods & Feasts of Colonial Virginia,†a three-day event beginning on Thanksgiving Day, visitors to the re-created Continental Army encampment can learn how soldiers turned meager rations of dried beans, salted meat and hard bread into nourishing soups and stews.
Additionally, visitors can discover how food was gathered, preserved and prepared on land and at sea by Virginia’s English colonists and Powhatan Indians.
Although food preparation in the museums’ interpretive

Carnevale, in Venice, Italy, is a huge winter festival with public and private masquerade balls, parades, music and entertainment. During the last week of the celebration, a jury of international costume and fashion designers vote for the best mask.
The annual festival starts 40 days before Easter and ends on Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. Decorative Venetian masks are an important part of carnevale.
