5 Steps to Rebuild Your Confidence and Get Stuff Done

Have you ever been at a networking event and got to talking about common business problems? If so, you won’t be surprised that confidence (or even the lack of confidence) frequently comes up in the conversation.

Successful entrepreneurs don’t necessarily know more than unsuccessful ones. They have simply learned to use effective techniques to continuously build and rebuild confidence, while pushing through doubt to take the actions they need to succeed. Here are five steps to rebuild your confidence and get stuff done:

Step 1: Get to the Root of Your Confidence Issue

Procrastination is not always about preferring to do things that are more fun or “copping out” by distracting yourself. It is usually about feeling inadequate. When confident people don’t know how to do something, they ask for help. When insecure people don’t know how to do something, they curl up in a little ball and feel defeated. The next time you run into a challenge, focus your energy–not on the problem at hand, but the solution to fix it.

Step 2: Jump Start Your Confidence Through Training

You can easily attend workshops, read books and articles on your industry, and take general courses that will endow you with the confidence. Not all professions require certifications to be in a specific industry. If you have life experience, and have succeeded in a field, this may be enough to send people flocking to your door to buy your product or service.

Step 3: Boost Your Confidence Through Achievement

Accreditation is only one strategy to help increase your confidence. You can also boost your confidence through achievement. The sort of achievements I’m talking about are achievements you accomplish yourself. For example, shooting your first video or planning your live workshop. Achievements don’t have to be big they just need to show you are making progress toward your goals.

Step 4: Borrow Confidence Through Associations

Here’s another important strategy that entrepreneurs and other professionals often miss; the importance of borrowing confidence through the people you choose to associate with. If someone in your life is negative and drains you, do yourself a favor and “fire” them. Choose to surround yourself with positive people who lift your mood, inspire you, and simply make you feel good about life.

Step 5: Stimulate Your Confidence by Helping Others

When you help others because you genuinely want to see them win, you will gain an increase in confidence. Many people are great at getting results for themselves, but it takes a special kind of person who can help others achieve success. Helping people find breakthroughs, without any ulterior motives, is a powerful confidence booster.

No matter how down you are, you don’t have to do all these things at once, to get your confidence furnace restocked. The greatest achievements always start with one small step.

Let me leave you today with a challenge: What small step will you take today? And be sure to leave a comment below or let me know how you’re doing!
